Elevate Your Family’s Summer with Yoga.

Our lives can get very chaotic and slowing it down can be so healthy for you and your child(ren)! Kids can learn the benefits of yoga at home by just watching your habits. Just like how us adults need to take care of our bodies and mind, kids do as well, and are capable of doing so! Yoga and exercise can be made fun for kids and is not as complex as you may think!

Yoga for kids can start out simple, with practicing how to slow their breath down by imagining they are “smelling the cake” and then “blowing out the candles”. This can later be used a coping mechanism to fall back on when they need a reminder. Practice this several times a day and be their reminder until they can identify when to practice independently. 

Next, you can introduce poses such as “cat” and “cow”. Have your child pretend they are a cat by getting on their hands and knees and arching their back like a scared cat…meow! Then have them pretend to be a cow by bringing their back down and belly towards the ground while lifting their head up with a “moo”! This can help stretch and relax their bodies in the morning or before bed.
